Although never promoted as a cure, Drum Therapy® has helped special needs children and adults with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, ADD, ADHD, Muscular Dystrophy, Dyslexia, Opposition Defiance Disorder (ODD), Dyslexia, Multiple Sclerosis and other disabilities, to develop retention, coordination, behavior modification, attention, reading, vocal communication, and physical and cognitive functioning. It can also help wounded veterans with PTSD issues, and can also help them to assimilate to prosthetic devices.
D.A.D.’s Award Winning, Pioneering “Healing Art of Drum Therapy” Techniques are specifically designed to help children and adults with special needs, to develop physical and cognitive functioning. To support this mission, D.A.D. is committed to educating, training, and certifying individuals in the Healing Art of Drum Therapy, and offering the advanced credential of Certified Drum Therapist.
D.A.D. is approved by the State of New Jersey to grant education credits necessary for teachers to keep a valid teaching license. The Drum Therapy Certificate is an advanced credential. This ensures that only the most qualified individuals are Certified Drum Therapists, and possess the advanced skills necessary for becoming a Drum Therapist.
Drum Therapy training is comprised of 3 extensive segments. The first segment consists of a per-training conversation with potential Drum Therapy candidates via Skype or telephone. Once selected, potential Drum Therapists will complete the registration process, with official training manual, and will start the live training sessions and Master Classes via zoom, telephone, or in person, depending on geographic location. The third segment includes successfully completing the Drum Therapy® training course and test. When completed, students will then receive their Certificate of Completion, allowing them to become a Certified Drum Therapist.
NOTE: Drum Therapy® training is not for everyone. It is an extensive study of drumming, related to mind – body functioning. Those interested in drum education, mental health, and mind-body functionality are usually the best candidates. Course study is based on student/Instructor availability, which sets the time frame for completion. Usual time of completion with 2 hours per week, will take approximately 3-4 months.
D.A.D. will then assist in helping the students to try to implement their Drum Therapy® practice in their local communities.
